Garhwal,s unique
rock garden,the
valley of
Flower,which is
endoured with a most
fascinating ,fabulous,and
rich variety of
flowering herbs.
According to the
legends,the valley
of flowers has been
associated
spiritually with the
name of' 'hanuman'the
legendry hero of
Ramayana,the great
Indian epic.Of
course the local
people have long
been aware of this
fabulous rock
garden,but it was
first brought ot
lime light in
1931,when Frank
Symthe,a british
naturalist and
mountaineer,who
after scaling Kamet
peak, scumbled upon
it by chance.later
on,Smythe,assisted
with Englands
eminent botanist
R.L.Holdsworth,explred
the valley
excensively.
Once explored,the
valley caught
attention of
naturalists,researchers
and trekkers from
world over.Now to
restore the natural
balance and conserve
the natural
heritage,the valley
of flower and its
environs was
declared as Pushpati
National park.
The valley of
flower,a flatish
valley is situated
towards the south
western part of the
national park.The
valley is about 5
kms long and 2 kms
wide,beginning at
and elevation of
3500 mts the valley
gradually slopes up
like a winding
corridor to 3900
mts.The major part
of the valley is
stretched along the
right bank of
Puspavati river.

Morning after
breakfast trek
to valley of
flowers.The
first part of
the trek is
through thick
forest then we
come to the open
meadow.Arrive
and explore the
area.After
encountering
rare flowers e.g
Brahm Kamal,Blue
poppy,Potentilla,and
hundres of
others we trace
our strps back
to
Ghangaria.Meals
and overnight
camp.
Day 5:
GHANGARIA/HEMKUND
/GHANGARIA.
TREK:8-8 HRS
OVERNIGHT :CAMP
Morning after
breakfast trek
to Hemkund,the
pilgrimage for
Sikhs as well as
Hindus.On a
clear day one
can see the
panoramic view
of mountain
peaks and the
valley.Explore
the area and
trek down to
Ghangaria.Meals
and overnight
camp.
Day 6:
GHANGARIA/GOVINDGHAT/JOSHIMATH

Morning trek
down to Govind
Ghat.Arrive and
commence drive
